May 2010 Update
Congratulations to Fiona Johnstone who owns Lakota on their fabulous results. Apparently Lakota proved herself to be a real star at her first affiliated dressage competition by winning both of her tests one of which she scored 73%! Well done to both of you!
Lightly competed and won unaffiliated classes, now ready to register and compete affiliated novice. Learning lateral work and counter canter and showing good differences in her paces. She has a positive attitude and loves having a job to do. Lakota is 6 years old and 15 hands.
Lakota comes from a successful dressage family. At an early age Lakota demonstrated she had the potential to make a top level dressage horse. As a foal she scored 82% in the dressage class at the Best British Foal show and was placed 7th out of 65 foals. She was the highest placed two year old at The Royal Show and was awarded 3rd place at the British Dressage Young Horse Breeding Championships as a yearling.
Sire Kostolany
Kostolany was not only the Champion at his grading but also competed up to Prix St. George. Most importantly, he is also the sire of 8 approved stallions including the Elite Grand Prix stallion Gribaldi. He is known for passing on his superb temperament, which is certainly true in Lakota.
Dam - Libitina
Libitina is one of the Stud’s foundation mares and has produced some outstanding offspring. At the 2008 BEF British Breeding Elite Championships Carl Hester named her the 2008 British Breeding Champion Dressage Broodmare out of 16 mares! We were so delighted, one more Championship title to add to her growing list!
She bred the 2006/7 Best British Bred Trakehner and Young Stock Champion Larkshill Lexington. At the British Dressage National Foal Show both Lakota and Lexington both scored 82% and were the highest placed Trakehners in their year. Legend came second at the British Dressage Young Horse Breeding Championships as a yearling. In 2005 she received the recognition she deserves for producing outstanding progeny when she won the Trakehner Breeders Fraternity’s Mare Family Championship, along with her daughters Larkshill Lakota by Kostolany and Larkshill Lexington by E.H. Hohenstein.
